In dwelling, live close to the ground. In thinking, keep it to the simple.
In conflict, be fair and generous.
In governing, don't try to control.
In work, do what you enjoy. In family life, be completely present.

Kids and Sharp Kitchen Tools

Our son WANTS to help me peel the carrots.  I always feared that he might cut himself.  I know other mothers who trust their 2 year olds with kitchen knives.  Our son is 3, and I just started trusting myself in entrusting him with the sharp peeler.  Why did I even worry?  He did wonderfully without my help.
